چکیده

There are many evidences that people tend to overweight low-probability events and underweight highprobability events. This risk attitude is generally expressed as an inverse-S shaped weighting function. This paper considers a risk-averse inventory manager who operates a continuous-review inventory system subject to supply disruption risk. Both Zero-Inventory-Order (ZIO) and Non-ZIO policies are considered. Based on the studies of [1], [2], [3], we provide an Economy Order Quantity under Disruption (EOQD) model with consideration of the inverse-S shaped weighting function. We conduct numerical studies to investigate the impacts of weighting function on optimal decisions and system costs. Our results show that with ZIO policy, ordering more may not be efficient for a risk-averse inventory manager to mitigate supply disruption risk; whereas with Non-ZIO policy, ordering less but more frequently is suggested to be applied.

Reliable Biomass Supply Chain Design under Feedstock Seasonality and Probabilistic Facility Disruptions

While biomass has been recognized as an important renewable energy source which has a range of positive impacts on the economy, environment, and society, the existence of feedstock seasonality and risk of service disruptions at collection facilities potentially compromises the efficiency and reliability of the energy supply system. In this paper, we consider reliable supply chain design for bio...

The Impact of Temporary Seaport Closures on Freight Supply Chain Costs

We present a decision model designed to help policy-makers understand the disruptive impact of temporary closures of a container seaport on the supply chains that it supports. Such closures may have numerous possible causes, but security-related disruptions are of particular relevance today. Importantly, temporary closures result in highly variable product delivery leadtimes, increasing invento...

A Risk-averse Inventory-based Supply Chain Protection Problem with Adapted Stochastic Measures under Intentional Facility Disruptions: Decomposition and Hybrid Algorithms

Owing to rising intentional events, supply chain disruptions have been considered by setting up a game between two players, namely, a designer and an interdictor contesting on minimizing and maximizing total cost, respectively. The previous studies have found the equilibrium solution by taking transportation, penalty and restoration cost into account. To contribute further, we examine how incor...

Inventory Management Under Random Supply Disruptions and Partial Backorders

We explore the management of inventory for stochastic-demand systems, where the product’s supply is randomly disrupted for periods of random duration, and demands that arrive when the inventory system is temporarily out of stock become a mix of backorders and lost sales. The stock is managed according to the following modified (s , S) policy: If the inventory level is at or below s and the supp...

Impacts of supply disruptions and customer differentiation on a partial-backordering inventory system

In this paper, we study a single-product inventory system which involves a supplier, a retailer, and differentiated customers. The supplier provides products to the retailer which in turn sells products to its customers. The supplier is unreliable and is subject to random disruptions. The retailer adopts a periodic-review inventory policy, under which the retailer reviews its inventory position...
